The film “Duvar”, written and directed by Yılmaz Güney, will take place at the 13th International Crime and Punishment Festival, which will be held between November 17-23, in the Justice Scales Special Screening section, in memory of its 40th anniversary.
The film centers around the events that took place in Ward 4 (Juvenile Ward) of Ankara Prison in 1979 and describes the events that occurred in the prison during that time. The children of Ward 4 are involved in various drudgeries
at the prison. At the same time, they are subjected to beatings, harassment, and torture by the guards.
In Duvar, a harsh and critical film, all the cast members, except Tuncel Kurtiz and Ayşe Emel Mesci, appeared in front of the camera for the first time. The film was nominated for the Palme d’Or at the 1983 Cannes Film Festival.
