“Freedom,” which won the best film at the Sarajevo Film Festival, unfolds in the tumultuous days of the December 1989 revolution that led to the downfall of the communist regime. The Transylvanian city of Sibiu becomes the backdrop for a violent assault on a police unit, which rapidly evolves into a bloody clash involving the military, police, civilian protestors, and the secret service.
